Strategies
- Continue to talk about what you are doing throughout your day with your toddler, where you are going, and what you see throughout your day.
- When you are talking about what you are doing/what you see, focus on the size of the object as appropriate.
- ie. Rather than saying “Look, a truck”, you can say “Look, BIG truck”
- Reading stories/Singing song:
- Discuss the size relationships in the story.
- i.e. The tree is big! The dog is small
- During play, use size words during to help describe the object.
- ie. Child says: “Mommy ball”
- Parent says: “It’s a BIG ball”
- NOTE: If it is available, point out a “small” ball at the same time to allow your toddler the opportunity to compare
- Discuss the size relationships in the story.
- When you are talking about what you are doing/what you see, focus on the size of the object as appropriate.
